What the Cloudflare status covers

Cloudflare lists every data center and every product as a separate component, which adds up to several hundred entries. For that reason this site collects only the overall state and the open incidents Cloudflare declares, and links to the official page for the per-location view.

The official page is cloudflarestatus.com. Everything on this page is read from its public API and shown as declared, with the provider's own wording in incident titles and updates.

Cloudflare not working for you, but no incident shown?

  1. An error page numbered 520 to 526 with Cloudflare branding usually means Cloudflare could not get a valid answer from the website's own server. In that case the site behind Cloudflare is down, not Cloudflare.
  2. Maintenance or re-routing in a single data center can set the overall state to "minor" while visitors are served from a nearby location without noticing.
  3. If a whole group of unrelated sites fails at once with 5xx errors, that is the pattern of a real Cloudflare incident; it normally shows on the official page within minutes.
  4. Wait a few minutes and look again. Status pages are updated by people and usually trail the start of a problem.
  5. Test from another network, such as a phone hotspot. If it works there, the cause is on your connection, VPN or DNS.

Questions and answers

Is Cloudflare down right now?

The answer at the top of this page is the state Cloudflare declares on cloudflarestatus.com, re-read every 9 minutes. It is loaded when the page opens, so it is not written into this text. If the page shows "No data", open cloudflarestatus.com directly.

Where does this Cloudflare status come from?

From the public status API of https://www.cloudflarestatus.com, the official status page maintained by Cloudflare. This site does not test Cloudflare itself and does not use reports from users.

Cloudflare is not working for me, but this page says there is no incident. Why?

Cloudflare may not have declared the problem yet, since status pages are updated by people and usually lag by some minutes. The problem can also be limited to one region or feature, or be on your own network or account. The checks listed on this page help to tell these cases apart.

Why does Cloudflare so often show a minor incident?

Its status page covers hundreds of data centers. Scheduled work or a partial re-route in any one of them is declared and can raise the overall state to minor, even when almost all traffic is unaffected. Read the incident title on this page to see how wide the problem is.

How long do Cloudflare incidents last?

It varies by incident. The list of recent incidents on this page shows the declared start and resolution of each one, and the 90-day strip shows on which days Cloudflare declared a problem.
