What the GitHub status covers
GitHub reports Git Operations, API Requests, Webhooks, Issues, Pull Requests, Actions, Packages, Pages, Codespaces and Copilot as separate components on githubstatus.com.
The official page is githubstatus.com. Everything on this page is read from its public API and shown as declared, with the provider's own wording in incident titles and updates.
GitHub not working for you, but no incident shown?
- Workflows that stay queued while the website and pushes work point to the Actions component, which is the one most often degraded on its own.
- A push or clone refused with an authentication error is usually an expired token or an organization single sign-on requirement, not an outage.
- Copilot has its own component. Completions can fail while repositories, issues and pull requests work normally.
- Wait a few minutes and look again. Status pages are updated by people and usually trail the start of a problem.
- Test from another network, such as a phone hotspot. If it works there, the cause is on your connection, VPN or DNS.
Want to follow GitHub without opening this page? There is a status badge and an RSS feed for it, and you can pin it so the browser tab icon follows its state.

Questions and answers
Is GitHub down right now?
The answer at the top of this page is the state GitHub declares on githubstatus.com, re-read every 9 minutes. It is loaded when the page opens, so it is not written into this text. If the page shows "No data", open githubstatus.com directly.
Where does this GitHub status come from?
From the public status API of https://www.githubstatus.com, the official status page maintained by GitHub. This site does not test GitHub itself and does not use reports from users.
GitHub is not working for me, but this page says there is no incident. Why?
GitHub may not have declared the problem yet, since status pages are updated by people and usually lag by some minutes. The problem can also be limited to one region or feature, or be on your own network or account. The checks listed on this page help to tell these cases apart.
Is GitHub Actions status reported separately from GitHub itself?
Yes. Actions is one of the components on githubstatus.com, next to Git Operations, API Requests, Pages, Packages, Codespaces and Copilot. This page lists the state GitHub declares for each.
How long do GitHub incidents last?
It varies by incident. The list of recent incidents on this page shows the declared start and resolution of each one, and the 90-day strip shows on which days GitHub declared a problem.
