What the Claude status covers

Anthropic publishes one status page for claude.ai, the Claude Console, the Claude API (api.anthropic.com), Claude Code and its other products. The address status.anthropic.com now redirects to status.claude.com, which is the page read here.

The official page is status.claude.com. Everything on this page is read from its public API and shown as declared, with the provider's own wording in incident titles and updates.

Claude not working for you, but no incident shown?

  1. Check which surface is failing. claude.ai, the API and Claude Code are separate components, and an incident frequently affects one model or one surface only.
  2. On the API, a 529 "overloaded" response means the service is under capacity pressure at that moment; it can happen without a declared incident. A 429 is your own rate limit.
  3. Claude Code and other tools built on the API fail when the API fails. If your editor integration stopped working, look at the Claude API component rather than at claude.ai.
  4. Wait a few minutes and look again. Status pages are updated by people and usually trail the start of a problem.
  5. Test from another network, such as a phone hotspot. If it works there, the cause is on your connection, VPN or DNS.

Want to follow Claude without opening this page? There is a status badge and an RSS feed for it, and you can pin it so the browser tab icon follows its state.

Questions and answers

Is Claude down right now?

The answer at the top of this page is the state Anthropic declares on status.claude.com, re-read every 9 minutes. It is loaded when the page opens, so it is not written into this text. If the page shows "No data", open status.claude.com directly.

Where does this Claude status come from?

From the public status API of https://status.claude.com, the official status page maintained by Anthropic. This site does not test Claude itself and does not use reports from users.

Claude is not working for me, but this page says there is no incident. Why?

Anthropic may not have declared the problem yet, since status pages are updated by people and usually lag by some minutes. The problem can also be limited to one region or feature, or be on your own network or account. The checks listed on this page help to tell these cases apart.

Why does status.anthropic.com redirect to another address?

Anthropic moved its status page to status.claude.com and the old address answers with a redirect. This page reads the new address directly, so the state shown here is the one Anthropic currently publishes.

How long do Claude incidents last?

It varies by incident. The list of recent incidents on this page shows the declared start and resolution of each one, and the 90-day strip shows on which days Anthropic declared a problem.
