AI services status

ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor and Perplexity side by side, each read from its own official status page every 9 minutes. A page that stops answering is shown as No data, never as green.

Reading ai services status

Reading AI status pages

AI providers split their status by surface. OpenAI and Anthropic each report the consumer app and the developer API as separate components, and an incident commonly touches one model or one feature rather than the whole product. That is why the overall state can read "minor incident" on a day when your own chats work normally.

Tools built on top of these APIs inherit their incidents. Cursor, for example, sends requests to several model providers; when one of them has elevated errors, the editor slows down for that model only. Seeing the providers next to each other on this page makes that pattern easy to spot.

What a declared incident usually means

Most incidents on these pages are described as elevated error rates or degraded performance and are resolved within the hour. The declared start and end of every incident are kept on each service page, together with the text of each official update, so you can check how long a past problem really lasted instead of relying on memory.

These providers are searched for in this category but publish status in a format this site does not read yet. No state is shown for them here, only the way to their official page.

Questions and answers

Why do AI services have incidents so often?

Their status pages track many separate features and models, and demand changes quickly. Most declared incidents are partial: elevated error rates on one model or one feature for less than an hour. The incident titles on each service page say what was affected.

If ChatGPT is down, are tools built on the OpenAI API down too?

Not necessarily. OpenAI reports ChatGPT and the API as separate components. A tool built on the API fails when the API component has an incident, and it can keep working during a ChatGPT-only incident.

Is Gemini covered?

Not yet. Google publishes the state of its products in its own formats rather than the common status-page format read here, and no adapter for them has been built. Use the official Google status dashboards for now.
