What the DigitalOcean status covers

DigitalOcean reports each product per region: Droplets, Kubernetes, Managed Databases, Load Balancers, Volumes, App Platform, Functions and others, plus global items such as the API, the Cloud Control Panel, DNS and Billing.

The official page is status.digitalocean.com. Everything on this page is read from its public API and shown as declared, with the provider's own wording in incident titles and updates.

DigitalOcean not working for you, but no incident shown?

  1. Find the region of your resource. An incident in one data center region does not affect Droplets or databases in another.
  2. If the control panel or API fails but your Droplet answers on its IP address, the incident is in the management layer and your workload keeps running.
  3. A single unreachable Droplet with every component green is usually a problem inside that machine: firewall rules, a full disk or a stopped service.
  4. Wait a few minutes and look again. Status pages are updated by people and usually trail the start of a problem.
  5. Test from another network, such as a phone hotspot. If it works there, the cause is on your connection, VPN or DNS.

Questions and answers

Is DigitalOcean down right now?

The answer at the top of this page is the state DigitalOcean declares on status.digitalocean.com, re-read every 9 minutes. It is loaded when the page opens, so it is not written into this text. If the page shows "No data", open status.digitalocean.com directly.

Where does this DigitalOcean status come from?

From the public status API of https://status.digitalocean.com, the official status page maintained by DigitalOcean. This site does not test DigitalOcean itself and does not use reports from users.

DigitalOcean is not working for me, but this page says there is no incident. Why?

DigitalOcean may not have declared the problem yet, since status pages are updated by people and usually lag by some minutes. The problem can also be limited to one region or feature, or be on your own network or account. The checks listed on this page help to tell these cases apart.

How do I know if a DigitalOcean incident affects my region?

DigitalOcean names the affected product and region in the incident title and in the component list. Both appear on this page as declared; compare them with the region shown for your resource in the control panel.

How long do DigitalOcean incidents last?

It varies by incident. The list of recent incidents on this page shows the declared start and resolution of each one, and the 90-day strip shows on which days DigitalOcean declared a problem.
